ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ ತರುಣಿ ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್
ಕಟು ಮುಖಾಭಿನಯಗಳಿಂದ ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ ||
ಕೊರವಿತಿ ವೋಲು ವೇಷ ತೊಟ್ಟು
ಸ್ಮರನ ಗುಟ್ಟಿ ಮನದೊಳಿಟ್ಟು ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ ||
ಢಮರು ಢಣರು ಢನ್ ಢಣಾರನೆ
ಚಿಲಿಕೆ ತಾಳ ಚಟ ಚಟನೆ ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ ||
ಕುಲುಕಿ ಬಳುಕಿ ಬಳ್ಳಿಯೊಡನೆ
ಒಲಿದು ನಲಿದು ಕುಣಿದು ಲಲನೆ ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ ||
ಈಶ ತಾಂಡವದಲ್ಲೊವೆ ರಾಸ ರಭಸದಿಂದಲೊಮ್ಮೆ
ಆಶೆನೋಟದಿಂದಲೊಮ್ಮೆ ಕೇಶ ವೇಷ ದಾಸಿ ಇವಳು
ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ ತರುಣಿ ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ ||
ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ - she performed (acted dramatically)
ತರುಣಿ - young lady
ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ – she performed
ಕಟು ಮುಖ ಅಭಿನಯಗಳಿಂದ – with fierce, intense, sharp facial expressions
ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ - she performed
She performed dramatically, the young lady performed, with fierce facial expressions, she performed.
ಕೊರವಿತಿವೋಲು ವೇಷ ತೊಟ್ಟು – dressed up like a fortune teller (like a ಕೊರವಂಜಿ or ಕಣಿಹೇಳುವವಳು)
ಸ್ಮರ -- ಮದನ, ಮನ್ಮಥ
ಸ್ಮರನ ಗುಟ್ಟಿ ಮನದೊಳಿಟ್ಟು ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ – secretly concealing her admiration for manmatha (Krishna), she performed
She dressed up like a fortune teller and performed concealing her admiration for Krishna.
ಢಮರು ಢಣರು ಢನ್ ಢಣಾರನೆ – to the rhythmic beats of the drum
ಚಿಲಿಕೆ ತಾಳ ಚಟ ಚಟನೆ ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ – by sounding of the anklets (gejje) she performed with a lot of energy (ಚಟ ಚಟನೆ)
She performed with enthusiasm and energy with the tingling of her anklets to the sound of the drums
ಕುಲುಕಿ ಬಳುಕಿ ಬಳ್ಳಿಯೊಡನೆ ಒಲಿದು ನಲಿದು ಕುಣಿದು ಲಲನೆ ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ ||
ಕುಲುಕಿ ಬಳುಕಿ – shaking and twisting
ಬಳ್ಳಿಯೊಡನೆ – along with the creeper (it also signifies the relationship of a child to its parent or family as an offspring)
ಒಲಿದು ನಲಿದು – by giving herself to it, and rejoicingly
ಲಲನೆ ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ – the lovely lady performed.
By shaking, twisting as if like a creeper (as a child dances in the womb), giving herself up and rejoicingly, the lovely lady performed.
ಈಶ ತಾಂಡವದಲ್ಲೊವೆ - ತಾಂಡವದಲ್ಲಿ ಓವೆ – in love for and feeling protected by the tANdava of Lord Shiva
ರಾಸ ರಭಸದಿಂದಲೊಮ್ಮೆ – once with high intensity, vigor and enthusiasm with love
ಆಶೆನೋಟದಿಂದಲೊಮ್ಮೆ – once with a look of desire
ಕೇಶ ವೇಷ ದಾಸಿ ಇವಳು - here, he is getting a little poetical – kEsha means hair, vESha means costume, but kEshavEsha is Lord Keshava; her hair and costume are dedicated to her Lord to who she is a servant.
ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ ತರುಣಿ ನಟನವಾಡಿದಳ್ – she performed, the lady, she performed!
Deep in love with a feeling of being protected by the tANdava of the Lord, she performed once with intensity and once with a desiring look, the lady who is the servant of the Lord performed. She performed.
Last line is the core of the poem - she is dressed up like a koravanji to please the Lord, she is using fierce facial expression as she is completely involved. She is feeling protected, and she is in LOVE and is submitting herself to the Lord.
