ನೃತ್ಯ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ
- the goddess saraswati who create the aptitude for performing arts (the knowledge,
arts and wisdom behind it)
ಸತ್ಯಲೋಕ ವಿಭೂತಿ – she is the splendor and glory of the highest realm of truth
ನಿತ್ಯ ಚಿದ್ರಸಿಕಾಕೃತಿ – unending, and the gives form to the taste of consciousness
ಕಲಾ ದ್ಯುತಿ – the inner brilliance that exhibits as art
ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಹಿತರೂಪೆ
– the embodiment of greatest compassion, benevolence
ಪ್ರೀತ್ಯಾಸ್ಪದ ಆಲಾಪೆ – one who’s speech is pleasing to all to experience
ತತ್ವಬೋಧನ ಮೋದಿನೀ – one who takes delights in the teachings of truth or wisdom
ಆಮೋದಿನಿ – one who is source of fragrance, joyfulness and cheerfulness
Oh goddess Saraswati, one who has the splendor of the realm of truth. You
are the unending form that yields the taste of consciousness, you are the inner
brilliance that expresses itself as art. You are the embodiment of the greatest
compassion, who’s eloquent speech is relished with pleasure by all. You take
delight in the teachings of tatvabodha (knowledge of self), and is the one who
creates joyfulness.
ಪದಮಾತ್ರ (mere words) ತಾನೆಂತು (how by themselves?) ಹೃದಯೇಂಗಿತಂಗಳ (the inner emotions of the heart) ವಿದಿತವಾಗಿಪುದರ್ಥ (yield meaning to) ಚ್ಯುತಿಯಾಗದಂತೆ (without losing its essence/bhAva) – how can mere words express the
inner emotions of the heart without losing its essence?
ಒದವಿ (combine) ಕೂಡಿರೆ
(together) ರಾಗ-ಹದದಿಂದಾಗಿಕಸಂಜ್ಞೆಯುದಿಪುದಾಗಳೆ (ರಾಗ ಹದದಿಂದ- ಆಗಿಕ – ಸಂಜ್ಞೆಯು- ಉದಿಪುದು-ಆಗಳೆ - when it is combined with raga and hada only then does the bhAva/meaning
manifests) – when combined well with appropriate intonation (raga) it creates
meaningful expression. ಪೂರ್ಣ-ವಿಧದಿಂದಾತ್ಮವಿಲಾಸ – that is in essence the true expression of the self.
How can mere words express the
inner emotions of the heart, without losing the essence? It is only when intonation
and appropriation (pauses and pace) are combined well that right meaning manifests,
and that is in essence the true expression of the self.
