Why am I a Hindu?

I am a Hindu, not merely because I was born into it, but because of what it stands for.

A Hindu loves the Creator and  cherishes the Creation. A Hindu sees value in every aspect of existence—from human beings to animals, from cows to dogs, from insects to trees, from mountains to rivers, from rocks to the stars above. Nothing is insignificant, for everything is a manifestation of the same Divine Reality.

A Hindu has no room for hatred. Yet, a Hindu does not remain silent in the face of adharma. He stands against unrighteousness, injustice, and unethical conduct, not out of anger, but out of a commitment to dharma.

I am a Hindu because it brings harmony within me and inspires me to create harmony in society. Hindutva, in its truest sense, is the foundation of this universal acceptance. It has no room for hatred, discrimination, or division. At the same time, it possesses the strength and conviction to defend itself against attempts to distort, malign, or undermine its purpose and ideals.

I love all because all emerge from the same Divine Source. I see divinity in everything. I see divinity everywhere. I see divinity in everyone.

sarvam khalu idam brahma - all this is indeed Divine! 

अयं निजः परो वेति गणना लघुचेतसाम् ।
उदारचरितानां तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् ॥

“This person is mine and that person is another” such is the thinking of narrow-minded people. For those of noble character and expansive vision, the entire world is one family.

Hindu vision that divinity pervades all existence and that all beings are interconnected manifestations of the same Reality. As a Hindu, I am empowered to look beyond differences and recognise the One that expresses itself through the many.
